Welcome to our lesson plans and ideas directory.
The following lesson ideas have been created by Speak Oz and are free for you to use and rewrite if necessary.

Each lesson is useful for one-on-one tutoring so you may find that you need to change them a bit if you want to use them in your classroom. Each lesson is designed to be part of a larger, more comprehensive, private tuition lesson and not the sole lesson. So if ESL, TESL, EFL, TEFL, IELTS, and other English teaching acronyms ring a bell with you, you may find this page useful.

New lessons are added irregularly so please bookmark this page and come back soon.

Speakoz Lesson Ideas
The quickest way to find any appropriate subject for English conversation practice is to visit Google News. Type in the country you or your student is from and you've suddenly got a huge list of resources. Just keep scanning through the list until you find a subject that is appropriate and you've instantly got yourself half of your lesson plan in front of you.

Try it! Use it to search for 'Japanese'. You will find many interesting articles appropriate for Japanese students.

Awhile back we found an article on the introduction of new bank notes in Japan.

It contained such subjects as counterfeiters, the Mint, a famous female Japanese author and the first to be on a bank note - Higuchi Ichiyo -  and others. (Especially interesting for Japanese that haven't been back to their country for a few years.) We also found an article about the World Expo taking place in Nagoya in 2005. This featured dancing Robots, a frozen Mammoth and exhibitions from many countries with an ecology theme.

Both these articles could last an entire English practice lesson if patience is given to helping the student understand the words used, as well as allowing for conversation tangents that will undoubtedly arise. If the student is very good at English conversation and just needs some practice, these articles may only last a few minutes. In which case you'll need to stock up!
