A Word a day sends you a word and its definition to help you pick up new vocabulary. A lot of detail is given. The word of the day is available to listen to on the site.

Cambridge word of the day
Not a subscription like AWAD but if you make the page your home page, whenever you connected you'd have a new English word and definition on your screen.
Peak English
Free email newsletters teaching vocabulary and idioms. Sign up and receive their daily business English and daily slang emails which would help you to learn spoken vocabulary.
